Bank Holiday Mondayyyyy

So it's bank holiday, and everyone has the day off, woo. Apart from me (and other people in retail). Wahey, or not. Anyway, bitterness aside it wasn't too bad a day, there were lots of people to keep me busy and I got to drive to work because parentage were home to sit there and "be in charge" (oh, how I can't wait for my full licence). Problem with driving is I always get quite warm in my car and whilst I'm concentrating, but colder when I'm walking to work. My solution for today? All out skinniness :). The beloved grey skinny jeans (Criminal Damage @ Blue Banana), combined with a well loved and much worn green skinny fit, long sleeved basic tee (Primark) and yes, those are Girl Boxers (Topshop) you can see peeking out there.

Not much else to say really at the moment. Picked up a cute pair of earrings yesterday at a local country show type thing. They're lovely. I'll try and put a photo up tomorrow or Wednesday probably. I also intend to get around to putting up a picture of my favourite bag that is what I'm like living with at the moment because it's gorgeous and I want to show the whole wide world =D
More tomorrow [=

Randomness

I'm finally back in skinny jeans! It's the best thing ever; I have missed my skinny jeans soooo much it's insane. Is it possible to be addicted to a style of clothing?
I won't be putting up pictures today of my outfit, it's nothing special to be honest. I had driving this morning at 8.30 so just had no energy for something awesome.

So in the news today from KJ:
  • As you may have noticed I have now added to my blog a list of the blogs I follow. Just so you can see the cool kids that I follow. Check it yeah, s'just to the right of this post.
  • We're beginning to get in the A/W-09/10 ranges in at work, tis tres exciting because I fully intend to have a massive clean out of my wardrobe soon and just completely restock it. I constantly feel like I have nothing to wear, and to me that screams that I need some new things. But spring cleaning is needed.
  • I have to go shopping for some new boots as soon as possible as well, so has anyone got any suggestions as to where to look? They have to be waterproof *snore* and no more than £50, but ideally less.
Not a lot else to say, so here's a picture of Sarah Chalke who plays Elliot Reid in Scrubs. I love her style (:

I really wish I knew where this dress is from; it's gorgeous.

Baggy Jeans

Ok, so as I mentioned in my earlier post (Sun, Sea and Shorts) I did mange to get sunburnt whilst on holiday, but only on the bottom of my legs. I have thus been forced into baggy jeans for the last couple of days on my way to, and from, work as skinny jeans are just unbearable painful and I don't think the general public should be submitted to the state of my legs at present.

I'm not used to wearing baggy jeans, so it's been a bit of a mission to work out what to put with them... hmm. So this is what today's combination ended up looking like as I was going to a friend's after work...
Jeans were given to me by a friend of a friend. The top is from H&M and is one of my favourite. I'm aware you can see a hint of my bra strap which is from the Star by Julien Macdonald range at Debenhams (A/W-08/09) and I wore it with my pink primark pumps that seem to be getting more and more abused since I wrecked my boots =[.

It was a bit of a strange day walking down to the train station from where I work. I often like to see whether any men check me out (vain, I know) and use the number to roughly grade my outfit as to whether or not it does me any favours. I always thought skinny jeans were better for me today, but there was at least 4 different guys in a 3 minute walk who did various things (blowing kisses; nod in approval and grin at me; outright stare as I walk past, making no secret of the fact they're following me with their eyes). It was quite strange in all honesty, but I will certainly bear in mind that you don't have to be in skin tight jeans to get looks of approval. Sod the trends, wear what you're comfy in.

Anywho, won't stop for more now, need to put away my washing before I get into warm and desperately wanted bed. I'm shattered.

Summer Reading

Being away the last couple of days has also given me the chance to catch up on some reading whilst I've had time to relax uninterrupted with work, food and people.
"Reading?!" I can almost hear some of you saying; well yeah. I think reading plays a decent sized role in the fashion industry. After all, it takes a lot to be able to thoroughly analyse designers, the pieces and the inspiration. It also takes brains to be able to put those analyses into words on paper that other people can grasp what you're meaning.

The long and short of it though, is that I wanted to give you guys a list of my summer reading; books and magazines; because in my opinion, there's no better way to kill time whilst sunbathing etc, than with a cappucino; water or your drink of choice and a bloody good book or magazine.

Louise Bagshawe is a fabulous author in my opinion. I only discovered her books a month or so ago and since then I've been hooked. I started with "The Movie" and have since read; "Glamour", "A Kept Woman" and I am about a quarter of the way through "Glitz". The books are incredibly easy to get into after the first few pages and some of the details of the outfits worn are to die for. All the stories are based around one or more women are wealthy due to others; be it partners or family; who then lose their cash for varying reason and are forced to make their own way. Although every story has the same basic line (rich & stuck up; fall on hard times; meet the right bloke; get rich in their own right), the stories never fail to captivate me.

Vogue goes without saying as being a fashion bible for a fashion obsessive. I have the joy of a subscription so I don't even have to go through the effort of going and buying it; it comes straight to me, and boy do I love it. Not a lot else to say there.

Nylon may not be well known on this side of the pond, but any Americans or Canadians reading this blog would hopefully be familiar with the title. It's a fantastic magazine that is what I would perhaps call slightly alternative, but not to extremities. Nine times out of ten it definitely has something for every fashion addict and I've just found a UK stockist; (I'm a bit slow I know): Borders who just happen to be right near where I work so I can re-begin my addiction to their easy-to-read, light articles. In case you're wandering, I discovered this magazine when I was travelling home from Vancouver and have obsessed over it ever since.

So that's my mini list of summer reading, despite the fact that summer is nearly over. Such is life and soon I can begin hunting for my winter reading list of books and magazines that are great to curl up in front of the fire place with. No doubt though, Vogue and Nylon will be on there still, but we'll see what else apears between now and whenever I get round to my winter reading list. :)

Sun, Sea and Shorts.

I'm back from holiday! Bet ya all missed me for the... oo, 4 days I was gone. Working on my ususal assumption of having not missed much; and if I have missed anything drastic, then it's in the past and doesn't matter.
I'll also be the first to admit that the "Shorts" bit of the title is mildly optimistic. Due to it being the wonderful English summer as usual I only managed to get away with wearing my shorts for a few hours yesterday afternoon. Bit crap really considering I was by the sea for the whole 4 days. Ahh well, the few hours I did manage to get shorts on for, I managed to also get sunburnt. Woo! Go KJ.

Also, being my usual forgetful self, I failed epically to get any interesting shots of my outfits, so I'll just give you a brief brakdown of the few clothes I managed to persuade my best friend into letting me take. He's a guy btw, who managed to fit everything into a rucksack where as I needed a weekend bag and then a big handbag much to his disgust.
Saturday (travelling down): Grey skinny jeans (Criminal Damage - given to me by a friend); Hard Rock Cafe Couture tshirt (Hard Rock Cafe; Rome); Black knee high fake leather boots (Next); and silver plated Anchor pendant on chain (Camden Market stall).
Sunday (Visiting Plymouth): Grey skinny jeans; black and white striped tshirt; anchor chain again and the black boots again. (All outfit details in this past post - most unoriginal I know) I also combined it with my lovely leather jacket that I got a couple of years ago now, but just looks better with each passing year.
Monday (chilling, beach and eating out); started the day in: Grey skinny jeans (as before); Band tshirt (Farewell gig); black boots (as before).
Afternoon of sunbathing: I swapped the grey skinny jeans for my customised shorts (which can be seen in numerous outfit posts) and my boots for my pink pumps (Primark). I also chucked on my striped blue, black and sand coloured boyjumper (Primark) cos there was a fair old breeze.
In the evening it was back to the original outfit but with the pumps instead of boots.
Tuesday (travelling home): grey skinny jeans (as before); sailor style top (Primark); anchor necklace (as before); and pink pumps (as before).
Now I'm home I've swamped skinny jeans for a skirt (given by friend of a friend) cos it was rubbing my sunburn on my legs and also my big blue Leavers hoody (from my secondary school).

Just a little pic of me soaking up the sun with the house owner's dog. :) Enough for now, chilling with "Who's Line Is It, Anyway?"

Inspired

Having a few completely uninspiring days in terms of clothes. I need to go shopping methinks; just need to find the cash for it!
I have, however, been feeling more inspired from a design and business perspective. Been having a few ideas for some slightly couture pieces; so have been slowly pulling together mood boards for those. Will possibly put up pictures when its completed.
I've also been thinking about business ideas as the idea of being my own boss is somewhat appealing. I do have an idea, however it is only in the very early development stages - there is a lot more research that I need to do before it would become a viable business plan - but certainly watch this space!

Haven't got a lot else to say really now. So I may just hide away for a few days and concentrate on other things.
That said I am also going away tomorrow until Tuesday, so no blogging between those dates; however I should hopefully come back with some new ideas, thoughts, photos and hopefully some more interesting blogs.
Toodles :).

P.S. I am aware some of these things are similar to what I've said in my last post - just a little more detail. Sorry =[

Bad Mood

Today's not been a good day. My mood is improving slowly, but it's not been a good day. No photo of my outfit today as I was feeling utterly uninspired and just threw on a vest tee (Cherokee @ Tesco) and black skinnies (Criminal Damage @ Blue Banana). It's then boiled up into heat and I was forced to change into shorts as soon as I got home from work because I was melting.

Inspiration is starting to show itself in other areas though. I've been getting lots of inspirations recently for some designs which are a bit more couture than ready-to-wear. I'm planning on starting a mood board for one idea that's lurking in my head at the moment; was just trying to remember how to draw vaguely decently. The memory of that hasn't returned, but I have decided that as long as it's vaguely clear what I mean and my written and coloured notes are clearer, then the drawing should explain itself. That's the plan anyway.
I won't say more about it now; it's still only in the development stages of my brain so it'll take a while to get it all onto paper. Especially with the noise that's going on outside - people grass cutting; gah! I shan't rant about that now though.

Will leave this for now; I have a headache to nurse, and a big blank piece of paper and some more food later. :)

Mum(sy)'s the word

Ok, so feeling a bit mumsy in what I'm wearing today... I can't really explain it but for some reason this combination just strikes me as... well, yeah, Mumsy. I can't think of any other way to put it. No matter though; it's comfy and it was warm earlier so it kept me cool whilst I was driving and now it's cooled off I've just shoved a boy jumper (Primark) with it.
I really like this combination of denim skirt (From friend of a friend) and a band tshirt (Gorillaz band shirt from a Clothes Show Live stand 2007). It's always so comfy and flexible to pretty much anything I do. Tights (Debenhams) are already falling apart though. I really should probably start forking out a bit more cos my Jonathan Ascot blue tights that I bought a few years ago are still going well and I haven't treated them any different to how I treat these ones. Damn.

Whilst in London yesterday did a little bit of a shopping as I mentioned in my blog last night about it. I didn't, however, mention that I also went into Selfridges and ended up buying a pair of tights to get another Selfridges bag. I know that's incredibly wrong that I was willing to fork out money to basically just get a bag. It did work out for the best in the end though because I found a pair of tights that I'd wanted for quite a while in Jonathan Ascot's range. Although it's just basic black fishnets, I've had real trouble finding them anywhere else in proper tights and at a reasonable price and just basic fishnets, not with anything fancy on them.

I was just hunting on Topshop's website for the dress I fell in love with yesterday in their flagship store that I couldn't afford (£55 for a simple cotton bandeau dress with an amazing skull print on it) and ended up having a quick glance in the hope that they may have the playsuit I want (bandeau denim shorts). I'm not normally a fan of playsuits, however, one like this is what I've wanted for ages. I finally found it, but I need some one to like donate me £45 so I can buy it. Look how pretty! So yeah, if you feel like donating me like £100 so I can buy the playsuit and go back and buy the dress as well, that'd be fab. Thanks; just leave a comment. :)

I've also been looking at some other fashion blogs - thank god for linkage through each other's blogs. Here's some interesting ones that I found:
Cheapskate Chic - Lovin' her style. She's based here in the UK as well it seems. Yay for British blogs. :)
Style Rookie - Liking this person's style of writing, it's somewhat crazy to an extent, but lovely none the less. An entertaining read.
Style Bubble - This one isn't a blogspot one but that doesn't matter to me. Am thoroughly enjoying her sense of style and thoughts of things. Must go through her archives for more fun readings.

And finally: Make Do & Mend has been on my mind a lot recently. I found this site on google when looking for some stuff for a friend who's got stuff for her textiles project based around the way clothing has changed between WWII and now. I covered fashion in WWII as mini project for History a few years back when I was still stuck at school and found some of my old stuff for her. But yeah, it's definitely got me thinking with money being tight for me and the entire world it seems at the moment. Gotta love a recession to increase your creativity.

London Town

So today I went to London with a friend and had a totally awesome time. It was quite warm in London, even more so on the Underground so I wore shorts (Next, customised by moi), tights (Debenhams) and a top (made by moi) that had it's first outing today. It was a really good trip and we didn't get lost!
I'll be uploading lots of pictures tomorrow probably from the V&A museum that we went to to see their permanent fashion exhibition and their current "Future Fashion" exhibition. Was tres good and gave me lots of interesting ideas on stuff to make and customise etc.
After that we went shopping down Oxford Street including a quick trip into Liberty so I could buy some more buttons for the skirt I'm making. Also went into Topshop's flagship store where I ended up getting lots of ideas - from their Vintage section - for some customisation projects I can do myself for a lot less than the £50+ they wanted for things.

Anyway, won't stop for more now. Mega tired from a long day of shopping and the likes. Will blog more tomorrow hopefully. :)

Lacking....

I seem to be lacking things to say this weekend - a rarity for me, indeed. Not been having the best weekend in terms of work and the likes, but that's no excuse.
Anyway, today was better than yesterday and I finally managed to get a bit more done on my skirt....

So this is the front of my skirt.... Obviously this is not the whole thing - I still need to add at least one more section of about the same width with ruffles on for some texture. You can also see some of the back with this photo as I have had to make the material at an odd angle due to the shape of my figure. Once it's done I plan to put 2-6 buttons that co-ordinate with the zip on the front as a feature.

This is the back of the skirt. The stitching isn't great to join the zip to the fabric but it'll do for now and then I can always re-do it. Again it'll look so much better when I have added on the extra layer(s).

And finally. These are the buttons that will go on the front of the skirt. I am contemplating buying another 4 when I'm in London tomorrow, so that I have a set of 6 going down the middle. We'll see though.

In other news, as very briefly mentioned just a second ago - it's London tomorrow with my friend. Shall be goooood.
Not a lot else to say for now, just gotta get my last bits and pieces ready for tomorrow then off to bed for some good ol' fashioned beauty sleep. :)

Feelin' Breezy

First things, first. Apologies for the crap picture tonight. I literally took this photo about 10-15 minutes ago and my camera would just not get the right contrast. This was the best version of about 5, and I just didn't feel like editing it. Sorry!
Anyway, today was beautiful weather again this morning, though it did get chillier this evening. So I decided to wear a loose top (Topshop) and my denim crops (Next possibly - can't remember) with my pink pumps (Primark) although you can't see these in the picture. As it got colder I also threw on the old faithful black hoody.

Not a lot else to say for now. My main thoughts are on it only being 3 days until London town with my friend. :)

Dressing Up...

So today I loved my outfit. Only numpty here forgot to get round to taking a photo before she wrecked her tights. Yet again.
But my outfit today; yeah it was well nice in my opinion. It's one of my favourite dresses (Bay) and will no doubt make an appearance on the photo bit of here at some point but sadly not today. Worked a funny shift at work this evening, so didn't get one done pre-work and haven't had time since I got home. The few minutes I did have when I could have taken a picture, I realised I had destroyed my tights (Debenhams). I swear I can't last more than a day or two with one pair of tights. They always seem to get a little mark across them which then turns into a tiny hole. Then a tiny movement of my leg and hey presto, one massive ladder up my tights. Damn.
Ahh well. Finally got bored of my Essie "Great Expectations" colour for now. So returned to Nails Inc. in "Berry"; a colour I loved for quite a while - despite the amount it chips - before I discovered my Essie varnish.
Not much else to say for now. Only 4 days until my London trip with my friend. Really looking forward to it - shopping and the likes. Shall be tres good. :)

Windy Summer

Majorly wishing it was being proper summer weather at the moment. I woke up boiling hot this morning and thought that might be the weather for today. It even looked bright when I opened my curtains. So I threw open my window and when I eventually got round to getting dressed I popped on one of my favourite skirts (Primark) and tops (H&M in Canada) I also chucked on a pair of tights (Debenhams) as due to the lack of sunshine, my legs are severely lacking in tan and thus look hideous. Hehe (:
Now, however; it's bloody freezing cos there's a breeze that's making it chilly. I can't be bothered to change, so I think I'll just have to survive in my black hoody. I'll be hot again later anyway as I have a driving lesson and my instructor's car is always sweltering hot -_-.
Anywho, this is what I'm wearing today:
In other news I'm gonna make an effort to at least put the zip into my skirt today. I managed to get one on Monday, so it's good to go from that perspective; just need to get the motivation. I'm also going to be going on a hunt to see if there's any local vintage fairs coming up for me anytime soon on a couple of websites links I have. Today I'll be looking on: PA-Antiques; Ashley Hall Fairs & Stroud Vintage. Of course I'll also be using Google because Google has the answer for everything, right?

Confessions of a shopaholic.

Today was just a lazy day to be honest. But for some reason the idea of skinny+skinny appealed whilst I was getting dressed. Thus the choice of this combination of (yet another) pair of skinny jeans (Next but given to me by a friend of a friend) and a skinny fit tshirt (Hard Rock Cafe in Rome - Hard Rock Couture collection). I was mainly playing around with the layering of different layers of blue, however I didn't get to play too much as I don't actually seem to own a lot of blue clothes. Hmmm.

In other news, I watched Confessions of a Shopaholic last night on DVD. It was tres good in my opinion, if a little cringey at times. Parts of it I could totally relate to, though other bits made me more adamant that I wouldn't end up like that (the multiple credit cards for instance). My best friend, however, did seem to disagree and kept likening Becky to me on many levels. I am not a shopaholic; I do not have a problem and I am most definitely not in denial. I promise.

I don't think there's much else to say for the moment. Only a quick side note that a week from today I'm going to London town to the Victoria & Albert museum; plus perhaps a little Oxford Street shopping avec a fellow blogger (check her out here) and friend of mine. Should be gooooood =D

Fail

Today was a bit of a fail on the posting front. Nothing of interest to report on my clothing front, nor on clothes of other people... hmmm.
However, I did manage to make a start on the skirt I want to make out of this blue silky material I bought cheap in a charity store - £2.95 or something ridiculous like that for a piece of fabric that is roughly 70"x60". I mean, you'd normally pay a fair amount for that, so twas a bargain. It's also a good thing it was cheap as I was in a bit of a ditzy mood today when I started making. First up I measured around my hips and added a couple of extra inches to allow for hems, mistakes, etc... I then drew this and cut this out of the fabric, ironed etc and pinned it ready for sewing. Then i quickly checked it went around me still, and it did. Only problem was that it left a gap where it should have been covering my bum. Woops! I'd completely forgotten that bit was bigger. So I had to put that fabric to one side - I'm going to use it for another section of the skirt rather than the main panel - and measure around my bum and cut that out of the fabric. This way, after I've purchased the zip (on my to-do list for tomorrow) I can adjust the skirt to taper in towards the top so it fits snug on my hips and on my behind. That's the theory anyway. Updates to follow on that methinks.

In other news, checked out my Essie nail varnish on my fingernails and peeled a bit away, only to discover my nails were flaking horribly underneath with dryness - woops! I'm thinking this is mainly down to the lack of air and the fact they've been painted constantly for over a week now, so that was a very quick removal. Will be leaving nails nude now for a little while. My toe nails; however; are still the beautiful pale grey colour and are still holding up shockingly well. I am most impressed. Definitely need to go on a shopping trip and buy Essie nail varnish in loads more colours!

Won't stop for more now, in desperate need of beauty sleep (haha!) and intend to try and get some more done on my skirt. Will upload pictures as soon as it's starting to look decent! (:

Swine Flu!

I've been feeling a bit rough the last couple of days - everyone keeps saying it's swine flu in jest as I do have a lot of the symptoms, but in reality it's just a bit of a head cold. It's shocking what drama-queens our race can be at times. Anywho, it's making me hot and cold and as today it was quite warm out (for once) I decided to go for shorts (Next jeans, customised by me),tshirt (Mayday Parade band shirt from a gig) and tights (Debenhams) because my legs are rather pale and actually appear to glow white!

Wasn't too bad a day all things considered. That said I did see a few.... interesting sights shall we say, due to the warm weather. Like strapless tops with bra straps showing, too short tops on people who aren't in the best of shape, etc. I'm not one to be bitchy about other women's clothes; however I can't stand bad style and when people just don't seem to look in the mirror before going out. Ahh well, I can't have my way, but if I did then everyone would be beautifully dressed all the time in clothes that suited them, not what was "on trend" and the "in shape" for that season. Maybe keeping the trends in mind, but tailoring it to their own needs.

I've got a couple of days off now so shall hopefully be able to keep on this, but probably won't have much of interest to say. That said I do intend to hopefully start making a skirt tomorrow. Whether that happens is another matter though!

Lunchtime Lovin'

Ok, so it took me like 4 hours to get up and dressed today. Good thing I don't need to leave for work for half hour yet so just whipping up some lunch - cheese on toast for the win!
Anywho, no matter what jeans I put on this morning, none of them felt right. Then I remembered another pair (Topshop) that have been lying on my floor waiting to be fixed after I ripped a hole in them to an even bigger proportion. Woops! So yeah, I picked those up and started fixing them and after 10 minutes of carefully threading the needle back and forth so the hole didn't close up completely the above was the result (on the leg to the right of the picture). Was quite chuffed with it so put them on and shock horror, they felt right for today. :)
So then I just had to pick a top - a task that had seemed impossible with all the other pairs of jeans I tried on this morning. In the end I picked this one - it used to belong to my best friend (who, yes, is a guy) but it no longer fits him. I thought it was quite cute, so it just had to fall into my room, didn't it?

At the moment I really like playing with my silhouette - skinny bottoms and baggy tops; baggy bottoms and skinny tops... baggy bottoms and tops, etc etc. It's not the most original of playtimes, but it's interesting for how it works on my figure none the less.
Anywho, won't stop for more - lunch nearly ready and not long left to get ready. x

English Summer

News Flash! For the first time since I painted them on Friday night; I have chipped some of the Essie nail varnish off one of my fingernails by accident. To be fair though, it's not really anything to do with the Nail varnish - more that part of a layer of my nail decided to peel off :(. But not bad all things considered.
And after almost 48 hours, the nail varnish on my toe nails is still holding up - this stuff really is good it seems!

In other news, I'm most frustrated with our English summer. It was beautiful sunshine when I got up this morning and on my way to work so I decided to wear my grey skinnies that were shown in my first "What I wore" style post along with a pretty baby blue cami top I have that has lace around the front and for the straps. I threw my black hoody in my bag for that "just in case" moment and headed off out, enjoying the sun. Half way through my shift, customer's start coming in with umbrellas and as I can't see outside from my department I enquired if it was raining... Yes, it was - erck.
So when it came to home time I thought it might have eased off a bit and ended up being overly hot, so went straight out in just my cami and skinnies... It was hammering it down. I was most unimpressed but had to run for my bus so didn't put on my hoody. Many laughs and a "you're crazy" from a collegue returning from their lunch break as i ran reminded me just how rubbish it was. By the time I was sat on the bus I was so soaked I decided to not even bother with my hoody, just froze instead.
Bit of a fashion faux pas, but ahh well. I won't even waste breath describing what I am now wearing instead as it is shockingly hideous - lots of bagginess to warm me up and lounge around in.

Roll on a bit of proper weather please :).

Driving

Ok, so had a day off today (always lovely) and had driving lesson which is always fun. So this is what I ended up wearing for comfort and because I was in a tomboyish mood.
The t-shirt (Primark) was customised by moi based upon one I saw in a boutique section of Topshop retailing at around £65. This one cost me about £5 including the fabric pen and sequins. The jeans (Next) were given to me by a friend of a friend.
The necklace (LadyLuckRulesOk) is one of my favourites when it comes to my bolder pieces. Again it was another one of my bargains as I got it at the Clothes Show Live for half of it's retail price on the website. Wahey!

In other news, it's been just under 24 hours since I applied my Essie nail varnish to my toe nails for the test; and so far.... it's held up. :)
I guess we'll just have to see how well it lasts by Sunday as between now and Sunday I'm working 17.5 hours - not much but meh, in heels and on my feet for the whole time, it shall certainly test the colour's chipability.

Essie

Ok, so have just painted my toe nails with the Essie nail varnish on my finger nails. This will be the ultimate test in my opinion of how chip-proof it is. :D

I forgot to mention before how I came across this product and the colour, etc. All key details I believe for a blog like this.
So yes, I cam across this product by sheer accident; in the Daily Telegraph - the newspaper my family gets - there was a voucher for August's edition of Tatler for only £1. Bargain reading, and I do like a bit of Tatler every now and then. Anyway, bought the magazine and had the choice of 4 different colour nail varnishes with it which were freebies. Always good.
Anywho, I chose the colour "Great Expecations" as the others were all tones of red, 2 of which were similar to ones I already own by other names.
Great Expectations is a beautiful grey colour, very subtle and can be very sheer with just a couple of layers of, or extra bold with a few layers.
The names of many of the Essie colours are quite odd, but wonderful none the less, and oddly descriptive of the colour they contain.
Definitely a name to keep an eye out for.

Pirate Mood

So today I was in more of a pirate mood in terms of dressing. I often seem to end up dressing to themes. So this was the result of a pirate on her way to work.
The top was from a boutique type shop up in Chester, the jeans are Criminal Damage that a friend gave me. The necklace I bought in Camden Market.
I realised in the full length shot you can't actually see the anchor, thus the reason that I've added in a shot of necklace as well. Not the most original pirate, and not completely piratey, but a theme is a theme.
Although you can't see, I wore my black knee high boot that are flats. They're ridiculously comfortable and were such a bargain.
In make up terms I did sleepy make up like yesterday, however using No.7 brown eyeliner and brown mascara. Nice and simple for work.
Perfume was my usual of Fuel For Life by Diesel. Yummy!

In other news I have fallen in love with a new (to me) brand of nail varnish. Essie.
When I read it was chip proof I was just like "tch, believe it when I see it". However I painted my nails Friday night with it and it's still going strong. And this comes from a girl who normally chips her nail varnish within 2 hours of it setting. I think the ultimate test for it is going to be how chip proof it stays on my toe nails which are thoroughly abused - woops! I intend to paint them tonight, so will let you know. :)

First of the last...

So let's face it, there's numerous fashion blogs out there. They're all of varying levels and with varying levels of cult-like status. Some consist mainly of pictures, other of analyse of others, and others consisting mainly of writing and opinions about the current fashions.

So first things first, lets lay the ground with a few of my favourite fashion blogs upon starting this one.... Mine will undoubtedly come across as a mixture and copy of these until I work into my own style, but hey, aren't all the best ideas a combination and improvement upon others.
Crafty Crafty - I love this blog 'cause I'm a big fan of DIY and customisation. Numerous ideas, usually posted daily, but for some reason there's been a lack of them recently.
Childhood Flames - This is quite a well established blog. I believe I read somewhere that the author of this blog is only 15, but I could be wrong. I can't say "only 15" though, seeing as I, myself, am only 17.
Hel-Looks This isn't a blog so much as just a normal website. Basically I group of people go out and photograph the people of Helsinki who capture they're eyes and imagination with the outfits. I sometimes forget about this one, but rediscovering it is always a joy.
Neet Magazine - Ok, so this one isn't a blog, it's a web magazine, but none the less it's always a joy to rediscover (I really must remember to Favourite all these sites, I just forget to re-bookmark them when I get a new laptop etc).

Anywho, enough of them, in my oh so usual selfish manner. As I mentioned before I'm 17. I'm KJ and I don't go to school. God bless the old English school system which meant you could leave once you completed year 11. Now however they're making it compulsary to stay until you're 18 I believe.
None the less I digress. I'm overly opinionated, I like to say what I think but I'll listen to your thoughts too. I try not to be arguemental but usually fail.
I've wanted to be a personal shopper since I was like 10 and this have a well fuelled obsession with fashion, clothes and everything linked in.
I also have commitment issues to blogs (thus the title).
I also usually epically fail at the short snappy blogs I intend to do, so for now I'll round up with a quick thing on what I wore today (no picture though, I sorta got chocolate on my top cos I'm a bit special like that :D):
White strap top (Primark), Black skinnies (Criminal Damage @ Blue Banana), neon pink pumps (Primark), skull & crossbones with wings ring (Topshop). For my make up today I went with just a simple "got out of bed and couldn't be bothered" look. Smudged black pencil eyeliner, black mascara and a good ol' bit of mint flavoured lip balm. Shimples.
