Where to Begin?

There's lot for me to write today as I've been meaning to blog a couple of times but my internet has been having hissy fits or I've just outright been too tired/alcohol-soaked.
Sooo, I guess this means I should try and go chronologically-ish, but my memory is rubbish, so let's just go with stuff earlier in the week. Which means, first:
Spotted!
As I work in Selfridges (have I mentioned that enough, d'ya think?) it's not uncommon to see minor celebrities, and slightly more major ones, browsing our rails. I've see a few people, most of whom I end having to be told by some one else that they're famous (like some bird from Coronation Street). Others I reckonise out of my own passions (like the woman who plays Christina in Ugly Betty)... and there's the well known ones. I had one of the well known ones on Tuesday (or was it Wednesday?). I saw Kelly Osbourne.
I have to say she was look very lovely in what I think was a mui mui skirt and top. She'd had what looked like a blue rinse on her hair, which had resulted in it being an odd lilac/blue/blonde/grey colour, but none the less she pulled it off and looked fabulous. She was far shorter than I thought, but even more gorgeous in the flesh. I didn't get to speak to her as she was just passing through my area, but none the less it was pretty cool. :)

Also, on Tuesday I decided to make an effort with my outfit, and ended up wearing this:
There would be a picture here, but my internet/Blogger is being rubbish and has refused to let me upload this for nearly a week now. I'll show it at some point.
I was mainly making an effort as it was one of the girl's leaving drinks and I didn't want to have to change after work. So I decided to chuck on my lace top (H&M), my strapless dress over the top (Cult) and I also got truly Essex and wore my white stilletos for drinks and the first half of my shift.

The rest of the week was a bit rubbish until I saw Theo Paphitis. I had a small cringe moment with this "Spotted!" moment as I didn't realise it was him until I had already gone and opened my big mouth to do my introduction that I do when some one walks into my area... (along the lines of "Hi there, are you looking for anything in particular?", they respond no, just looking and I reply "ok, just so you know there are more sizes available of pretty much all our styles, just let me know!") Half way through the first bit I realised who I was talking to and the way he was smiling/smirking at me and sort of trailed off into a mumble. Bit embarrassing but ahh well. He was clearly in on business related matters rather than personal, and looked smart casual in a pink shirt and light coloured trousers.

On a couple of the evenings whilst I was chilling out, I ended up wearing this:
I thought it was a different version of smart casual for me. I only brought these tailored shorts (Primark) from Oxfordshire to London, the other week, but have worn them quite regularly since. I've then just been combining them with this tshirt (Vintage) or similar baggy style ones for the stark contrast of casual with smart tailoring. Perhaps not the best outfit ever, but it worked.

Finally, today... well yesterday now, I went to Clothes Show London at Earls Court. It was amazing! So amazing, in fact, that I think I'm going to save itfor it's own blog post as I'm rather tired and do have to work this apparently-going-to-be-warm Sunday. But all I can say is wow, amazing. Yayyyy (:

Proud of My Stuff.

As you may, or may not, know; I work in Selfridges. Also, as you may, or may not, know; I work in the lingerie section. Within this section I cover the brand Eres. Never heard of that brand? Neither had I, until I started working there.

As you may, or may not, also know; I'm an avid Harper's Bazaar reader. And in July's edition (which has been out for, like, ever now, I know. I just haven't had time to read it until today) there is loads of Eres stuff on their pages. Win. I am proud enough of my brand that I have gone through and photographed the stuff and can *sadly enough* tell you what colours Selfridges actually stock these pieces in.
So now, prepare yourself for like a gazillion and one pictures.
Now this picture was on Kate Moss' page for her summer wear. I think this is the noir version, but I don't think we have any left in black at work. We do, however, have it in papou (a sort of charcoal), rouge and bleu... I think. I'm not 100% sure on that one. It's a lovely shape though and I do rather like this one on a slightly fuller bust. The weird light coloured bit on the crotch of the bottoms is actually a flipflop they layered over the top of it in the montage of the page.
This swimsuit we don't stock. However, we do a similar one that has straps. It's still a gorgeous one though, no idea why the buyer's didn't bring it in!
Finally there's this one. Again, our buyers have been a bit rubbish, and haven't bought this in for us in white. We do, however, have it in bleu sultan. I think we may have it in black as well, but not 100% sure on that either.
Finally, there was this little mention on one of the pages (the bottom line). I can personally vouch for this statement being true - Eres really does streamline the thighs with their gorgeous cuts. They provide a bit more coverage on the bum, which is lovely. And don't I just sound like a walking advertisement for Eres. Tch, I should be getting commission for this. Haha!

Anyway, whilst I'm here, and harping on about pictures in Harper's Bazaar (no pun intended, genuinely). Here's a picture of a swimsuit I love love love. I wonder if it's still available anywhere. Doubt it.
This swimsuit is by Norma Kamali and was photographed in 1987 for Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition (as you can see in the caption - just click to enlarge photo). If it was still available, I'd love love love some one to buy me it... but maybe in a different colour... like black or purple or something as I'm far too pale to wear white.

Finally, here's a quick crap-snap of what I've been chilling out in today due to the lovely summery weather we've been enjoying :)
I adore this top(H&M in Canada) as it make my waist appear waaaay tinier than it actually is. I also chucked on my tailored shorts (Primark I think) which I brought back from Oxfordshire with me the other day. Accessorised with being too hot, a bruised knee, a weird pose and my DKNY ring... and I was pretty happy with this random outfit. I can literally say it's the first thing I grabbed this morning because I couldn't be bothered... Actually, it was more like this afternoon by the time I got dressed.

That's all for now kids. More blogging later in the week perhaps.

Nearing the End

Ok, so we're thankfully very near the end of the Selfridges' sale. It's been an absolutely manic week, hence the severe lack of blogging this week.
I also had a friend come visit me on Thursday and stay over night which was awesome to say the least. Now I'm winding down and catching up on what I've missed during the week because I've been so busy.

Anyway, I felt the need to further spread the love of a video I found on another blogger's site; Cheapskate Chic. Not only is this video featuring the gorgeous Daisy Lowe being rather sexy (seriously, you may develop major girl crushes!), but I'm rather loving the clothes/lingerie featured in it. Like, please can I have the very first outfit she's wearing? Oh, and that tshirt she's wearing towards the end with no bra. Phwoar. I'd only like them if I can look as good as she does in them though... Which isn't going to happen, but a girl can pretend, right?

Daisy Lowe for British Esquire (i-pad size if downloaded) from Greg Williams on Vimeo.

Anyway, that's it for now. Major tired from working all weekend, so going to get some rest and the likes. Good evening.

Team Work

Today was the first day of Selfridges' Summer Sale Spectacular. Do ya think that's enough alliteration? And my goodness, wasn't it fun?
Actually, that's a lie. It started out a truly crap day. First I was running a smidge late. When I say a smidge late, I mean that I would still get to work on time, but would actually have to put some effort into getting to my department for the correct time, rather than just wondering up the escalator and not worrying about those damn customers in the way! This rush results in an out of breath, red faced KJ, and is generally rather unattractive and takes me a while to become professionally capable again. Fail.
ANYWAY, I digress. Yes, I was running a smidge late, and then I got to the tube station. Upon entering the station I hear the message "I repeat, the Victoria line has been suspended. Please seek alternative routes." Needless to say, a few choice words were said to myself, and after a quick chat with one of the lovely guys who work for TFL, I found myself waiting for an overground train to Liverpool Street. Queue delayed train number one, that when it eventually turns up, ends up absolutely rammed with bodies before I can even get within touching distance of it. Needless to say I waited for delayed train number 2.
In the end, after much stressing, I was only 10 minutes late for my shift, but this included much huffing, puffing and red-face-ness. Oh so attractive!

From here, though, the Gods of the world seemed intent on cheering me up. Everything went rather swimmingly with everything, and it was generally a good day. Not rushed-off-my-feet-busy, but pleasantly occupied most of the time. This in itself was a miracle as the brand I sell for Selfridges isn't actually in sale and is therefore at full price. But for pretty much every two customers that asked "are you in sale?", when I replied "I'm afraid not, sorry", one was buying something still. Win much? Needless to say my managers loved me today.

But back to style related matters. There is an occurrence that has kept happening at work, I have noticed. They often say women who live or work together will sync on certain things, usually periods and such like (I can hear all you boys going "yeuck!"), but it would seem we also sync on other things.
For our uniform we are required to wear skirts/dresses, heels and hosiery. Everything must be black - apart from the hosiery which can also be natural. Now, our uniforms are not provided for us, so we all buy for ourselves, and yet between us, we nearly always seem to have the majority of us wearing the same style hosiery.

The other day when it was rather warm outside, the majority of the girls were wearing fishnet tights or hold ups. Today, the majority of us were wearing back seamed hosiery.
If this happened once, it could easily be coincidence, but this is becoming more regular. This is especially weird, for me anyway, because until yesterday I didn't own any back seamed tights; I simply impulse-bought some whilst at work.
Us girls are clearly very much in sync from having to work together.
Here's a pretty picture of mine (Jonathan Aston), worn with one of my favourite skirts (Marks and Spencers) and my favourite going out shoes (Faith @ Debenhams), as my work ones are at work... surprisingly enough.

Anyway, that's it for now. I have nothing else of interest to say. Just be proud of me for managing to blog less than a week since my last post. Things may gradually be improving.

It's Been a While.

So once again I have been epically failing at maintaining this blog. I still have nothing of interest to say as well; I think my brain must have gone to mush with this sunny weather. That, and with trying to avoid the football (seriously, I don't care about it, so stop shoving it in my face world!), I just haven't found much time to sit down and write about interesting style related stuff.
That and I've been procrastinating with the website Texts From Last Night. Mildly addicting stuff, so check it here.

Anywaaaaaay, as I still have nothing of interest to say, instead I'm just going to point you in the direction of a band I rather like, which has a friend of mine in. Think Oasis-type stuff, but like way better. I'm not biased, honest.
Mojo Pins
Now, personally, I reckon they need a stylist; which I have volunteered my services for on a couple of occasions. Poor boys have yet to see the errors of their ways, but I'm working on that ;).
For now, however, I'll leave them in peace about their clothes. They are only 18 after all, they're still young men who have many mistakes to make before they realise that women can dress them better than they dress themselves! Haha.

That's it for now, so run along children. I'll try and get something interesting back soon. That said, don't expect too much from me this week. Selfridges go into sale mode tomorrow at 8am. This results in general manic-ness for all their employees for a while, which includes me. Yay.
For those of you who care, but can't be bothered to traipse over to Selfridges website (which you should, because sale is on there as well!), the opening times for this week are:
Monday: 8am - 10pm
Tuesday: 9.30am - 10pm
Wednesday: 9.30am - 10pm
Thursday: 9.30am - 10pm
Friday: 9.30am - 9pm
Saturday: 9.30am - 9pm
Sunday: 12pm - 6pm (with browsing from 11.30am)

So that's right, from Monday to Thursday we're open an extra hour for you guys to get your sale shopping done. I'm on the late shift on Tuesday and Wednesday so come and laugh if you so wish. It'll be fun.

Fail Safe

This week has been another failure of a blogging week, it has to be said and acknowledged. I have no real excuse other than a lack of inspiration (and work, and the heat and alcohol...again).
But this is not a real excuse, instead I shall just persevere.

I still have minimal amounts of stuff to say, however I wish to share with you the beautiful rose that was bought for me by some lovely guy I bumped into whilst drinking with a friend.
I'm loving how it looks with the shoe picture I have behind it as well. Something about it just seems to stylish and lovely. Or perhaps that's just me being a little bit up myself about the styling of my room. Yeah, probably.

I also wanted to just have a little "summer's here" moment. This does include a picture of my belly button, because I have returned to my hi-ho-sailor belly bar. I love love love this, and for some reason it really represents summer to me. I dunno what it is, but there ya go, I am somewhat weird.
What with it being summer, I'm also noticing the change in people's clothing. Perhaps I'm a bit slow, but it certainly seems like the maxi-dress has made it full onto the highstreet now. Like, even back last summer, it seemed that as soon as it got hot, the girls were in shorts and short skirts etc... But this year, I see far more in maxi dresses. Or maybe this is just the difference between London and Oxford. The possibilities are endless. All I know is I am seeing far more legs covered with long skirts/dresses, that I'm seeing bare legs, bare stomachs and all such things that can be somewhat mentally scarring on the wrong person.

Oh, and one final note. I FINALLY got some new sunglasses. Woo. Only £12 from Debenhams, Redherring at Debenhams. I'm happy happy happy. I'm not 100% sure they necessarily suit me, but hey, for that price, considering the speed at which I break my sunglasses, they will suffice for now. And hopefully they'll help ease my itchy eyes. Win.

That's it for now. Might manage to do an outfit post tomorrow if it's still sunny and I'm feeling inspired. We'll see I guess :)
