As per usual, I'm not doing very well at the blogging regularly thing. No excuse, as per usual, other than I have been a very busy girl.
I went into London today to find out about a college course and in the end, had an interview for a job as well... The course thing; not going to happen. The job, well, I should know in a week whether I've gotten through to the next stage, though I'm not too sure. I'm not going to reveal where the interview was though, because it's not something I want the world to know I got turned down for, if I do get turned down.
Yes, because that makes perfect sense....
Anyway, moving swiftly on. I have no interesting, or decent, outfit pictures of myself. I've been uber lazy with dressing of late; smart things for work, sweatpants in the evenings. And yes, I can almost feel the sharp intake of breath as you go "she wears sweatpants?! no way has she got style." I know, but they're just too damn comfortable and are perfect for lazing around in the evenings. Honest.
Instead of pictures of me, I thought I'd show some thins that are coming out on the high street for Spring 2010. The things that I lust for; and would definitely be buying if I had any money.
Dear Diary; these are the things I'm liking and lusting after.
Ok, so apologies for the crappy montage, but it's long past my bedtime, and I'm determined to get this blogged.
A quick rundown from left to right:
Red Tartan Bustier Jumpsuit from Miss Selfridge (£48). With this one I think it's a little over priced for what it is, but I really like it for some odd reason. Perhaps because it could easily pass, in photos at least, as a two piece. I personally, though, would never wear it, I just like it.
The Farah Polka Dot Ra-Ra Dress (desperately trying to ignore Lady Gaga's Bad Romance which is now playing in my head) is by BooHoo.com (that's a direct link btw). Although it is actually just a strapless dress, I think I much prefer it with this white bodysuit underneath. However, with the dress alone costing £30, I really can't justify it at the moment; even if boyfriend sweetly offered to pay for half because he thinks I'll look good in it.
The third picture - the decapitated person.... I'm sorry, I really am. It's Miley Cyrus. I know I shouldn't judge, but I'm definitely not her biggest fan, so I just couldn't stomach having her picture on my blog. I do however, rather like what she's wearing, and BooHoo.com are doing a "steal her style" look based on this photo.
Then we have these shoes... Ahh, I think I'm in love. Unfortunately, they're not my size. So I can't buy them. I don't have anywhere to wear them either, but that's not the point. I came across them on eBay, here, kinda by accident. I'm not really sure what I searched for to end up with them, but I want, I want! =[
And finally, the last image, the trainer heels. I found these in New Look the other day whilst out shopping for my Mum, and with her. I was actually looking for new shoes to replace my work ones, but that's another matter I'll come to in a moment... None the less, I want, I want! They're £25, but if I could justify it, I would have bought them in a heart beat. My mother disapproves of them, she really doesn't like their general styling, but screw her, they're my feet. And they also have one thing in their favour, which will come in a minute...
But yeah, up in that 'ere montage are a couple of things I'm liking this Spring. S'good eh.
And now, for an open letter to the buyers of shoes on the high street:
Dear Buyers,
Please, please, please, when selecting the shoes you're going to sell in store for each coming season, please put some "sensible" ones in. By this I do not mean flats and boring and comfortable; no; I mean ones that hold your foot properly and come up to just under the ankle bone for shoe boots.
Why do I make this plea? Because I grew too fast and ended up with a problem with my legs. I have knees that sit slightly out of joint which causes hip problems. The knee and hip problems are made worse by the fact my feet roll inward, quite badly at times, which has been known to cause my knee to dislocate more than once. This is no longer a problem though for I have been given insoles to wear in my shoes that help correct the roll of my feet.
These insoles do, however, require sturdy shoes to hold them. And to leave enough space for my foot to remain in the shoe.
New Look, for example; I found a gorgeous pair of shoe boots that were gorgeous; they fitted perfectly. I then put my insoles in, which just about fitted in ok. Putting my foot in though? Well, it was pointless, there was no where near enough shoe left to hold my foot in place around the heel, so once more I was unable to buy a pair of shoes.
I already am unable to buy dolly shoes and such like. Sure, I could forgo my insoles, but it also ruins my shoes. Without my insoles, no par of shoes survives longer than a couple of months.
I am aware that I am in a minority, however I know I am not alone. When I was being fitted for my insoles, the doctor informed me that it is quite common amongst teenage girls, especially tall ones, who have grown quickly like I did. Therefore there are hundreds, possibly thousands, of girls out there who need well made shoes, but cannot afford to go designer every time.
And anyway, designers don't always do it better....
So, buyers at the high street stores. Please, I beg of you, try to sort some shoes for me. I like the brogues with heels... I just can't seem to find any that are of a low enough height for me to work in them all day long comfortable, but still take my insoles.
Thank you,
Yours Faithfully,
The Girl With Messed Up Legs,
